Dongwoon celebrates B2ST’s 500th day by thanking fans through fancafe

On February 27th, B2ST’s maknae Son Dongwoon thanked fans for their support in celebration of the group’s 500th day anniversary.

Through B2ST’s official fancafe, Dongwoon wrote, “This is Dongwoon. Today is B2ST’s 500th day. Our B2UTIES, who were more hurt than we were when people hated us more than they liked us.. Thank you for filling up our empty stage and our empty hearts. We’ll repay your unchanging love with an even bigger love. Thank you, genuinely.  ^^”

Early on in B2ST’s debut, the group met with criticisms over the diverse history and experience of the members, which brought out nicknames like ‘recycled group’. Over time, the group was able to move past those criticisms, and they’re rising to become one of Korea’s top boy bands.

Fans responsed, “B2ST was more hurt than us.. Thank you so much for doing well and succeeding to prove them wrong,” “You make me so happy to be a fan, nobody can’t say anything to you now, you know that right? Thank you for always working so hard,” “Fighting on your Japanese advancement. It’s already 500 days, time flies so fast,” and “Let’s not get hurt anymore. Aja aja!”

After completing their two-day encore concerts earlier this month, B2ST has now shifted focused onto their upcoming Japanese debut.

B2ST to hold two Japanese expo concerts for 40,000 fans

In anticipation of their Japanese “Shock” debut, B2ST will play their music video on the streets of five major cities, and will also host two expo concerts at the Tokyo Big Sight and at the Dojima River Forum in Osaka. Together, the two expo concerts will house a cumulative figure of 40,000 fans!

B2ST already held a successful showcase last November despite the fact that they haven’t officially debuted; the tickets for that November showcase managed to sell out 10,000 tickets within 10 minutes. News of the group’s larger-scale concerts have already stirred Japanese fans into a frenzy.

On February 26th, Japan’s Nikkan Sports and other media outlets reported, “The Korean beasts will be landing in Japan.  All of the members are known for their exceptional vocal and dancing talents, and the group itself has managed to leap into the ranks of other top artists with their talent.  One industry representative revealed that their popularity had the ‘possibility to overtake TVXQ and Big Bang.’  B2ST will become the eye of the storm in K-pop this year.”

B2ST’s debut album, “Shock,” will be available on March 16th.  All special versions of the album, including the DVD and standard edition, have managed to rank in on the top 10 of Tower Record’s pre-order chart.

B2ST’s Yoseob responds to ’sasaeng fans’

After reprimanding B2ST’s sasaeng fans for their irresponsible behavior via Twitter, Yoseob took direct action by cleaning a fan’s scribble off a wall.

On February 26th, B2ST’s manager tweeted, “Please don’t make our Yoseob suffer!” and uploaded a picture.

In the picture, the idol is shown wearing rubber gloves and cleaning various scribbles on the wall.
On the same day, Yoseob tweeted his sasaeng fans “Keep scribbling away“. His reaction is a result of the sasaeng fans showing too much love for the idol.

Sasaeng fans often belong to idol groups, and they follow and stalk their favorite members by using taxi as a mode of transportation. They have caused many problems and have even been reported in the news.

B2ST’s Yoseob is taking the first step to encountering this big problem.

B2ST unveils Japanese version of “SHOCK” MV

After a long wait and much anticipation, B2ST’s music video for the Japanese version of “SHOCK” has arrived!

Four versions of their Japanese debut single will be released this coming March 23rd, of which their three limited editions will contain a combination of T-shirts stickers, and DVDs of their MV and live performances

“With the large number of Hallyu debuts announced in Japan, including that of Korean pop group MBLAQ, pop fans all over the world are bracing themselves for impact. B2ST is about to make their much-anticipated Japanese debut, and why not with an appropriately titled debut single? ”SHOCK“, a remake of the title track from their second Korean mini-album, is set to hit shelves on March 23rd, paving the way for their Japanese career.

B2ST will be joining the likes of fellow boy bands Choshinsei and Tohoshinki, and they’re expected to charm a large number of Japanese fans with their impressive dance routines, good looks, and catchy melodies.

The debut single will come in four versions, three of which are of limited edition:

B2ST’s Dongwoon’s father weighs in on B2ST’s refusal to wear kimonos

While B2ST has been praised for their refusal to wear kimonos at a recent fashion show in Japan, member Dongwoon’s father has garnered attention after revealing his opposing opinion.

Earlier this week, B2ST walked the runway in Yumi Katsura’s fashion show in Tokyo, Japan. When they were asked to wear kimonos, they requested that they not wear them, saying, “Please consider the feelings of Korea.” Therefore, their request was accepted.

Korean netizens who heard of this news complimented B2ST, however, Dongwoon’s father, Son Il Rak, a professor of hotel management at Cheongju University, expressed his opinion on the matter through his minihompy under a post titled, “B2ST and kimono“.
Professor Son posted,

“Since B2ST was scheduled to participate in the fashion show, the problem regarding the kimonos should have been addressed by both parties prior to the event.  How would it have worked out if the hosts considered the anti-Japanese sentiment, which has arose due to the issues surrounding Dokdo Island, and refrained from requesting the use of kimonos?

At the same time, I don’t think it is advisable for our nation’s fans to be ignorantly appaulding B2ST for refusing to wear kimonos. What would you have done if a Japanese celebrity strongly appealed against wearing a hanbok during a fashion show held in Korea? Strictly speaking, doesn’t the wearing of traditional costumes have nothing to do with the problem with Dokdo or other such matters? Honestly, are they not problems that should be thought of separately?

It is proper to believe that B2ST should have firmly refused to wear kimonos, but if you look at it from a broader perspective, it is also proper for B2ST to have worn the kimonos.“
